USER’S VERDICT: Although the new 3 MP camera is an improvement over the 2 MP one , users feel it pales in comparison to other camera phones flooding the market. But then , owning an iPhone has always been as much about showing off as it is about utility- that alone may get youngsters hooked

I own an iPhone 3GS and I sort of disagree with your verdict.

"owning an iPhone has always been as much about showing off as it is about utility"

It maybe applicable in India because of less wi-fi availabilities and lesser number of good apps in the app store.

It is incredibly useful where I live, it has basically taken over many tasks for which I used to traditionally rely on the computer.

Apart from calling I use it frequently for the Calendar which syncs with Google Calendar, surfing the web is smooth (9.12 MBps download recorded on my home wifi network), Maps and Compass utility is very useful as the Google Maps has streetview. App which shows which bus and train is coming next, Whats on TV, Locates nearest restaurants, banks gas stations etc, uploading videos directly to youtube, and pictures directly to facebook, orkutting and online banking …many other stuff

It is very hardy because after feeding it to a dog it barely has any scratches .

The only issue i would complain is that the camera does not take good pictures in lowlight. Which a nokia with flash might take better but still I'm not happy with the color sensors of Nokia.

Till now I used to own nokia, they have no idea how to make a phone. Iphone 3GS rocks, earned my loyalty, although expensive, its worth it for me.

hii kaushik , thanks for feedback,
well we are glad you shared your opinion ,

when we said that "owning an iPhone has always been as much about showing off as it is about utility" , we definitely did not mean that the device isnt of much use except flashing it in public . The device is very useful , still for many people who own it , especially the teenagers , the iphone is a gud way of showing off , but we obviously didnt mean that the device is not of much use .

Why would anyone , like to show off a device with no features and just looks ?? Today iPhone grabs eyeballs as well as serves lots and lots of purposes .
Its stylish , sexy and cool and yet at the same time it has great features that make it one of the coveted phones amongst the youth ……. and infact everyone .

and thats exatcly what we were trying to tell our readers when we said that "owning an iPhone has always been as much about showing off as it is about utility" .It serves both purposes very well , itsvery powerful and incredibly useful … at the same time it can drive your colleagues at work green with envy when they see you flashing it 😉

You've got a point. I'm a little apprehensive about taking it out in public places sometimes out of fear of being mugged [:D] That way my old crappy Nokia was really good but it didn't do anything more than just text and calls.
